2020 was a momentous year that brought unexpected challenge and uncertainty. In spite of that, I am inspired by communities’ commitment to staying safe and supporting each other. At the same time, 2020 was a year of extraordinary growth that will lead to increased opportunities in the future.

The challenges brought upon Helios and our partners in 2020 forced organizations to innovate, reimagine the ways they engaged students and constituents, and lead with flexibility. 2020 also shone a light on educational inequities all along the education continuum that long existed but were overlooked. While many will remember 2020 as the year of COVID, we choose to remember it as a year of enlightenment, opportunity, and action.

Call for Equity

Our communities and nation faced significant challenges in 2020. It was a year when extraordinary events highlighted historic and deeply rooted racism and inequity that have caused us to reexamine who we want to be, and how we will do our part to call for change.
