Helios heard and responded to the needs of communities across both Arizona and Florida by listening to our partners, acknowledging the challenges they faced, and supporting the ingenuity that lead them to reinvent the way they delivered services.

Uplifting Communities, Students, Educators, and Families Through a Commitment to Equity

Guiding Helios’ commitment to communities, students, educators, and families is a fundamental, and now reaffirmed, commitment to educational equity. Supporting students in light of the global pandemic required Helios to not only respond to basic needs with immediate support for students and families, but also continue to invest in pre-pandemic initiatives that reform education systems so that more students, particularly first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students, benefit from the transformational power of education.

Commitment to Communities

Our commitment to communities included providing general funding to support COVID-19 response and recovery in both states, with a primary focus on support for programs and organizations helping students and families impacted by school closures in Arizona and Florida.
Commitment to Students

Our commitment to students included resources and support for students who were impacted by the pandemic. The response included specific strategies to close achievement gaps and increase postsecondary attainment.
Commitment to Educators

Our commitment to educators included professional development opportunities for teachers as they navigated the move to online and virtual instruction necessitated by school closures.
Commitment to Families

Our commitment to families focused on ways to empower parents and caregivers, especially low-income and underserved, to continue their children’s education with access to high-quality learning opportunities through online and virtual environments.
