Transformation is never easy. In fact, transformation takes vision, intent, and perseverance. As a foundation in perpetuity, Helios Education Foundation holds firm to the principles of vision, intent, and perseverance as we engage in the vital work of ensuring every student in both Arizona and Florida has the opportunity to succeed in postsecondary education.

When we founded Helios over a decade ago, we took on the challenge of improving education not only for the economic and social impact to the two states we serve, but for the moral imperative of ensuring that every student, regardless of zip code, receives a high-quality education. Throughout our engagement in this challenging work, our resolve has never wavered, and our determination never faltered. Everyone—from our board of directors to our partners to our staff – embraces the transformative power of education, and is committed to ensuring that all students, especially Latino students in Arizona and first-generation, minority, and underrepresented students in Florida, not only have access to, but also complete a postsecondary degree.

Meaningful transformation is not achieved alone, nor is it ever truly complete; meaningful transformation starts with a single student who aspires to be the first in her family to achieve a postsecondary degree and who then paves a road of accomplishment for generations that follow. In addition, meaningful transformation starts with organizations that through partnership and collaboration, embrace challenges and champion change.

In our annual report, Collaborations that Transform, we are proud to highlight the engaging work and meaningful partnerships that are driving education reform all along the education continuum in both Arizona and Florida. We hope you enjoy this review of 2017, a year of collaborations that transform.
