As we review 2018, our perspective is one of accomplishment, anticipation, and ambition.
Of the numerous strides made in both states, two key initiatives launched in 2018 are of particular promise. In Arizona, we proudly partnered with Arizona State University to fund the first-of-its-kind Decision Center for Educational Excellence powered by Helios Education Foundation. This hub for data analytics will explore Arizona’s most complex education questions and guide practitioners and policymakers toward solutions with reverberating impact. In Florida, the use of data analytics is also influencing student success through the design and implementation of the Central Florida Education Ecosystem Database (CFEED). Through an unprecedented collaboration among the University of Central Florida, Valencia College, Orange County Public Schools, the School District of Osceola County, and Helios Education Foundation, we are building a system that will use data insights to allow educators to anticipate necessary interventions and deliver those supports services ahead of need. The opportunity to ensure all students benefit from support services furthers Helios’ belief that all students, regardless of zip code, deserve a high-quality education.
While we are proud of the year that concluded, we look forward with anticipation and excitement to the year ahead.
In both Arizona and Florida, our work is maturing, and our partnerships are leading to increased collaboration on meaningful, influential investments. Our work is evolving, but our perspective remains the same. We believe that education changes lives and strengthens communities; we believe that education is an investment and not an expense; we believe that every student – regardless of zip code – deserves a high-quality education; and we believe only through collaboration and partnership will we accomplish our mission.
