Scaffolding the First Generation Scholar is a partnership among the University of South Florida, Redlands Christian Migrants Association and Helios Education Foundation designed to provide professional development, tuition support, customized curriculum designs, and culturally and linguistically appropriate mentoring for a traditionally underserved group of early childhood teachers in the rural Tampa Bay area.

This commitment is helping strengthen the existing Scaffolding the First Generation Scholar project by testing the viability of the professional development model. Scaffolding the First Generation Scholar is aimed at giving teachers the opportunity to earn the required credentials for early childhood teaching and to acquire the academic language proficiencies and dispositions necessary for ongoing success in higher education.
