About the Foundation

Helios Education Foundation believes in the transformational power of education. The Foundation is strategically contributing its leadership, expertise and resources across the education continuum to increase the postsecondary education success of individuals in Arizona and Florida. Through this work, Helios seeks to create a college-going culture where all students have the opportunity to attend and are prepared to succeed in postsecondary education.

The Foundation's investments are focused across three key impact areas: early childhood education, the transition years and postsecondary scholarships. In early childhood education, the Foundation's investments reflect the need to surround early learners with high quality teachers and practitioners, but our strategic partnerships also work to integrate emergent literacy and language acquisition training into postsecondary education programs.

Supporting initiatives that create a college-going culture around students in grades 5-12 and improve their interest and performance in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) areas best defines Helios' investment philosophy in the transition years. The Foundation's work in this area is improving curriculum rigor and relevance and family and community engagement, strengthening the skills and knowledge of middle and high school STEM teachers.

Increasing access to postsecondary education for students from underserved and underrepresented populations, including first-generation students, and cultivating a pipeline of students focused on STEM and early childhood education are at the core of the Foundation's postsecondary scholarships. Through these dollars and other supportive services that improve student achievement, Helios is helping remove barriers and is widening the pathway toward postsecondary attainment for thousands of students.

Helios Education Foundation was created in 2004 with a passionate mission to help students in Arizona and Florida succeed across the education continuum. Since 2006, the Foundation has invested over $100 million in education programs and initiatives in both states.
